A nice bar and grill along MN 6 in northern Minnesota. Very welcoming and the food is very good! Good sized portions and the drink menu is good as well. Good burger and chicken sandwich menu and they have several dinner options as well. They also offer several salads and appetizers too. If you are traveling through, this is a good place to stop at!

Poor service you never know when the kitchen is open

New owners are great! They’ve made some much needed updates to the building and decor. We’ve been a couple of times so far and the food has been very good. The meatloaf was wonderful! Service was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Kitchen was a little slow but we’re on lake time so it wasn’t a huge deal for us. We’re happy to have the new and improved Deerhaven in our neck of the woods!

My fiance and I just did a beautiful road trip from Crosslake, Mn to Thunder Lakes Deer Haven Rest. and bar. This place was the " bomb"!!! It's an absolutely beautiful place with rustic log and decor. We REALLY enjoyed our waiter Cole! You could tell he was proud to work there and shared with us about the new owners and changes. We ate the prime rib and it was excellent!!!! Oh yeah Cole turned on the gas fireplace which was located in the center of the dining area. That was nice on the cold and snowy night this evening. We would highly recommend going there it was a grear " date night" out!!!!

We spent NYE here. Fantastic hospitality. The prime rib was to die for. They threw an epic party great fireworks. Such an amazing time. Coming back as often as we can

Middle of the afternoon, service was slow, but the food came hot and good! Sat on a deck overlooking a bay on Thunder Lake!I would stop again!

Food tastes great after a long day outside in the sun. Service was very friendly, but did take a little longer to get our food. However, we had nowhere else to be and it was worth the wait.

New Owners!! Deerhaven just reopened and they're doing an awesome job! Menu is temporarily limited because they just took over. Burgers & Sandwiches were great! Food arrived quickly!, Bar is fully open, Service was outstanding! Very welcoming! & friendly! Will be back!

Great staff and good food.

First visit 1-13-19. New owners & menu as of October 2018. Had the tasty Buffalo Chicken Nachos, Prime Philly Sandwich & fries, and kid size hamburger w/ fries. Nice up north knotty pine decor, and large picture windows overlooking the lake.

Waited two hours to get our food and an hour and a half for an appetizer. The waiter barely checked on us...empty cups were sitting for a long time!!

Finally visited the "new" Deer Haven. The remodeling done by the new owners is a very nice upgrade and the dining room now feels more open and inviting. On my recent visit we ordered takeout as we had our dog along on a boat ride. The sandwiches we ordered were fabulous. The 40 minute wait not so much. Felt like Deja Vu all over again. The bartender did apologize for the wait and she was very gracious. Since the food was so good I'm certainly willing to go back. I hope they can figure out how to fix this. Having a bar and restaurant on the lake has always been a nice option.

The place looks great service! Food was very good and came out quickly. Chatted with owner and heard about some of the projects they have for the future. Sounds like they will be a place that will be up and coming. Plan on stopping in the there again soon.

The walleye sandwich was great! Highly recommend this location.Careful about sitting outside at dusk. Bugs! Moved inside no problem. Service was superb. Thanks Jenn!

Great waitress. It took over an hour to get our food even though they weren't busy. Food was mediocre.

Good service. Only had beverage and appetizer, but appetizer was fresh tasting, crispy & hot & a freezer cold mug! Menu looked great. They advertised Walleye fry on Fridays nights. Most days they open at 4:00. Mostly loved the 'up north' beautiful log interior & decor, no skimmping on that.... and great view of Roosevelt Lk. They have outdoor patio/dining but too chilly for us to enjoy. Only complaint is earlier hours to be open (we now stopped early June...had stopped once last year and they weren't open til 4 & we arrived sooner & never got back to experience it until today). Bathroom even had nice free amenities (pictured!).

Great new menu! Cannot wait for the grand re-opening!

We decided to give this establishment another go as we heard it had new owners. SO GLAD WE DID! The place was redone in a lovely warm and cozy atmosphere. We went on a Friday evening and had Roxi as our server. Every table in the place was filled, but she made us feel like we were the only ones there. Very personable and friendly service! Food was outstanding and believe it or not CAME OUT QUICKLY!! We are very very excited to have such a quality owner and staff here in the area. Thank you! Dan and Pam (Longville)

We've been burned twice at this place. Both times waited an hour and walked out the 2nd time. Never have had to wait that long to be served anywhere else. Found out as we were leaving the cook had just arrived! Wanted to give them a 2nd Chance but they blew it. Won't be giving them another chance. Doubt they will be in business much longer.

There is new ownership. There was friendly service, but the service was not as attentive as it could have been. Food was average to slightly above average. It's pretty standard bar food, although the salad and dressing was excellent (and better than what you'd expect at a bar). There's a pretty unimaginative beer offering (both draft and cans). Prices for food are reasonable, particularly based in the large portion size. Drink prices were also in line with what you'd expect. Overall, with more attentive service and a better beer selection (how about some local microbrews or mich golden light on tap?), this would be a 5 star place.

Haven’t been to this place in years due to poor management. Heard about the new ownership, decided to check it out.Oh my goodness, the new owner Kim. What an amazing woman. So sweet. Showed us all around the property, invited us in like family. And then the food! Every burger we was cooked to perfection! Exactly how we ordered.Then having the beautiful views of the lake.Thanks Kim see you again soon. :)

Beautiful place, great service, and my burger was excellent. The owners are doing a great job and have big plans for the future. Great place for special events - Christmas parties, wedding receptions, etc. You can arrive by car or boat on beautiful Big Thunder Lake.

A bit remote but beautiful setting on Thunnder Lake with outside deck. Food was very good, prices reasonable. Wait staff was friendly, kitchen was a touch slow given that it wasn't busy. Might have been because a table for 12 was just finishing when we arrived.

The waitress was awesome. My pregnant daughter ordered 2 piece chicken. When it came out , the wing and thigh were so small that they were unrecognizable. The two steak dinners were too salty to eat. Everyone got a huge portion of corn on their plate that was not edible. It seemed that they were just trying to make the plate look like it had more on it. There were dirty people running in and out of the kitchen. We hoped they weren't the cooks. Beautiful place. We used to go for good food. Not going back.

Good food and prices are fair. You also can dock your boat and come in and eat. Clean and friendly place. Will be back. Easy to get to off of Hwy 6.

The beautiful setting on the lake and great atmosphere made this a memorable stop and food was delicious! Definitely will return.

Great place food is very good and fairly priced.The new outdoor bar is great for stopping by during the day on the boat.Mason is always working hard to make your experience a good one.They have pull tabs too so fun.

On the Lake. Arrive by boat and have a drink at the Tiki Bar. Long Island Ice Tea is my favorite.
